Autism-Inclusive Travel at Breeze Airways

Breeze Airways is the first U.S. commercial airline certified by Autism Double-Checked (ADC). Since 2022, we’ve partnered with ADC to make air travel more accessible for Guests on the autism spectrum and their families through Team Member training, the Autism Passport program, and practice boarding events at airports across our network.Â
What is Autism Double-Checked?Â
Autism Double-Checked is a certification program for travel and hospitality organizations, founded by travel professionals who are also parents of children with special needs. Breeze earned this certification in May 2024.Â
How are Breeze Team Members trained?Â
To earn ADC certification, at least 75% of our Flight Attendants completed in-depth training on how to identify and accommodate Guests on the autism spectrum. The program has since expanded to Pilots and other Team Members across the company.Â
What is the Autism Passport and how do I create one?Â
The Autism Passport is a free tool from ADC that lets travelers share their specific needs with certified providers including airlines, airports, and hotels before they arrive. You create one by registering at autismchecked.com, and you only need to set it up once. From there, you can share it with any ADC-certified provider. You can also create multiple passports for different family members.Â
What are practice boarding events?Â
Free events hosted with ADC and local airports that simulate the full travel experience from check-in and TSA screening to boarding the aircraft. They give individuals with ASD and their families a chance to practice in a low-pressure setting and build confidence before a real flight.Â
Why do these events matter?Â
Many families on the autism spectrum drive long distances to avoid the overstimulating airport environment. These events help make air travel feel possible for families who may have felt too intimidated to try.Â
Where can I find upcoming practice boarding events?Â
We host practice boarding events throughout the year at airports across our network. Visit Autism Double-Checked (ADC) or follow Breeze Airways on social media for the latest schedule.Â
